As a children’s book author and editor, I’m committed to recruiting black authors and featuring black children in my books. I support the nonprofit We Need Diverse Books and believe that all children should see themselves in the pages of children's books.
I stand in solidarity with the black lives matter movement and am committed to learning about the history of racism in this country and to anti-racism work.
This is dear nephew Djamil (my sister Tobye’s son) and he is a star in the kitchen—and in many of my books.
